| BRONCHITIS is an acute respiratory disease. It is an inflammation of bronchi that is characterized by cough, hacking cough, wheeze and begma.
There are 2 main types of bronchitis: acute and chronic. Acute bronchitis is a common disease that normally lasts for a short time & is caused by influenza, the common cold, or an infection. So, this type of bronchitis is extremely infectious & is transmitted by means of cough, sneeze and merely by touching objects that have been touched by a sick person.
Chronic bronchitis is the other type of the disease. Unlike acute bronchitis, it lasts for a longer period of time. Its common conditions are similar to those of acute bronchitic: cough & difficulty in breathing. Nevertheless, its causes are different. Chronic bronchitis is commonly caused by smoking, second hand smoke, a virus and others. By and large, it is not infectious. Nevertheless, it not less annoying.
Despite the different causes, the two types have a lot in common. Both of them are not susceptible to antibiotics. A virus causes bronchitis, & viral infections do not react to the germ-killing properties of these extremely powerful medications. They are efficacious against bacterial infections (for example strep throat and bladder infections). Antibiotics can also cause complications, such as diarrhoea and yeast infections. Furthermore, they can weaken your immune system. So, antibiotics may cause more harm than good if they are not used properly.
Whatever kind of bronchitis you have, it begins with hacking cough & gradually turns into begma accompanied by fever, pounding headaches and exhaustion.
As long as you have the conditions, your acute bronchitis is believed to be infectious. It you have had this disease for more than 6 months, you should have an appointment with your GP to get examined for other health problems.
You can avoid the spread of the disease. A sick person should follow sanitary rules. It is an absolute to wash hands regularly and cover the mouth when sneezing.
The best treatment for bronchitis is natural remedies. They will not adversely impact upon your immune system as antibiotics can do and target the root causes. Natural medications are efficacious against both acute and chronic bronchitis.
Take all the necessary preventative actions to avoid the disease. Any disease is better to avoid than to treatment. |
