| Considering fossil fuel is nearly scarce and will be non economical resource in near future, many attempt establish the quest for the alternative resource. Nuclear Power is a rival among those. The fission reaction is a reaction which a heavy atom split into smaller radioactive atoms, such as Uranium 238 hitted by neutron then collide into Krypton 92, Barium 141, neutron and about 180 MeV of energy. The produced neutron will hit another Uranium molecule and continue a fission chain reaction. Fission is viable and practical used in world wide nuclear reactor today. The other, fusion which is reverse reaction, need more energy to reach its condition to fuse the lighter atom into a heavy atom and surplus energy. The famous fusion reaction would be two deuterium (abundant in sea water) fuse into a Helium3 molecule and fast ( high energy ) neutron. Unfortunately all the fusion reactor cannot overcome the reaction rate to yield a higher energy output than input. From the above, we'll see that both reaction release enormous energy while Fission is viable and easily build up a reactor or breeder but its unwanted byproduct like radioactive wastes are refused by paranoid government, people and Green-Lover group. While Fusion is future hope to obtain free, clean and abundant energy resource. But its challenge to overcome the limit to make the reaction stable and increase the reaction rate enough to produce more energy than it consumes is quite a hard work. However there are efforts of propagating on research and fusion amateurer who seek practical fusion reactor for the sake of new abundant and free energy around the worlds. |
